Feeling a little light headed...

On Wednesday, July 24, 2002 a full craniotomy of the major tumor was performed by Dr.  Michael McDermott and staff of UCSF Medical Center. They characterized the surgery as a successful resection, taking 2.5 hours to remove a melanoma metasteses (still in pathology) in the right brain. The surgery was started at 3:00 p.m., and by 8:00 p.m. I was in ICU recovering.

The recovery from this surgery has been swift- advancements in anesthesia have been impressive in the 9 years since my last major surgery- I was sentient and joking with familiar faces with-in an hour of close up. I was walking (more than they wanted) the next day, and I was discharged on July 26, only 2 days after surgery.

The surgical and pathological reports may be posted in the medical section in September
